Emergency Service Number (ESN) GIS Layer Installed on 911 Computer Stations
The Stark County Emergency Management Agency Director, Timothy Warstler, and the Stark County Auditor, Alan Harold's Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Department, created and installed an Emergency Service Number (ESN) layer on all 911 computer stations. Between sixty and seventy percent of 911 calls made are VOIP or wireless and therefore are not associated with an ESN. With the ESN layer, call-takers and dispatchers are able to quickly locate the boundaries of each service provider's jurisdiction and more efficiently, dispatch the correct police, fire, and medical services to the scene of an emergency.
