Internship Process For Stark County Family Court

This process is open to undergrad students from an accredited program through a college or university.

PROCESS FOR OBTAINING AN INTERNSHIP

The Court provides a paid internship experience to students enrolled in an internship course through an accredited college.  Internships with the Court are up to 20 hours per week. Up to 2 paid internships a semester are accepted. A completed fingerprint/criminal history record check by the Ohio Attorney General is required to begin an internship with the court. The potential intern will be required to provide the court with a criminal history record check that is 1 year (or less) old. Internships will not commence without receipt of the Ohio Attorney General Criminal History Record Check.

The process for obtaining an internship is described below:

  1. Email the completed internship application (pdf) to Jacob Morgan at: [email protected]
  2. Allow up to 2 weeks from your application submission to receive an email response regarding internship openings.
  3. If openings are available, you will be scheduled for an interview with the department considering your internship. Be prepared to discuss your interests in Family Court, your Internship expectations, a start/end date, total amount of hours necessary to complete your Internship and an anticipated weekly schedule. A reminder regarding the need for a finger print background check report will be given. Your next meeting will be scheduled.
  4. Three weeks prior to the start date of your internship, you will be scheduled for a pre-internship meeting. At this meeting if you have not yet submitted your background check report, you will be required to do so. You will meet your direct supervisor, confirm your weekly internship schedule and receive notice regarding information necessary for payroll purposes required on the first day of your internship.

The Court reserves the right to refuse any internship request and cancel an internship at any time.
