Updates:

7/17/2024 - The contractor, DiGioia Suburban Excavating, began work on replacing two structures in close proximity to each other in the 12th Street and Summerdale Avenue area.  Summerdale will be closed at the intersection with 12th Street, and 12th Street will closed just east of the intersection.  No through traffic will be permitted during construction.  The project is scheduled for 90 days.

8/28/2024 - See the attached statement from the Stark County Engineer's Office

9/24/2024 - Stark County crews have restored 12th Street to driving conditions, allowing through traffic to travel from Genoa Avenue to Jackson Avenue.  Due to lane configurations, a posted speed limit of 25 mph has been established near the intersection with Summerdale Avenue for safety.  Summerdale Avenue remains closed at the intersection with 12th Street.

4/28/2025 - Lockhart Construction has begun the reconstruction of the Summerdale Avenue culvert.  This reconstruction has a scheduled completion date of July 1, 2025.  12th Street is scheduled to remain open to through traffic during construction.

5/23/2025 - Starting on June 2, 2025 12th Street will close to through traffic just west of Genoa Avenue.  This closure is scheduled for 80 days during which both culverts (12th Street & Summerdale) will be completed.  This new schedule deviates from the original 70 days for each culvert and condenses the time frame in an aim to complete to project before the new school year begins.

8/13/2025 - The closure of 12th Street and Summerdale Avenue as part of the double culvert replacement project has been extended through September 2025.  We understand the inconvenience that this has for the traveling public.  While significant progress has been made, difficult weather and site conditions issues (high water, etc.) have caused setbacks in construction.
