Overview
The House Numbering Department assigns house numbers to buildings in unincorporated areas of the county. The cities and villages are responsible for their own house numbering in their respective jurisdictions. Applicants desiring a house number in the Congress Lake, Lake Cable, or Willowdale Lake subdivisions must first obtain a letter from the administrative office of that subdivision, and bring that letter to the appropriate office as listed below.
Applicants for a new building permit are first required to obtain an address assignment from the House Numbering Department located at the Stark County Regional Planning Commission office at 201 3rd Street NE, 2nd Floor. Office hours are Monday through Friday from 8 AM to Noon and 1 PM to 4 PM. The property must be of legal record in order to obtain an official house number. Condominiums must first be declared through the Stark County Auditor's Office before a house number will be issued. Commercial Development must first obtain approval through the subdivision review process before an official house number can be issued.
Applicants on Sanitary Sewer will apply at the House Numbering Department. Those that are not on a platted subdivision lot will require a map of the property showing the driveway and building locations.
Applicants on Sewage Treatment Systems (septic) will apply for their house number at the Stark County Health Department when applying for their STS permit.
The fee for a house numbering assignment is $15.00 per address.
